Error Messages?

We're being taught SolidThinking Evolve in my Industrial Design course. I'm finding it hard to learn how to use the program effectively, as there are no error messages when attempts at doing things don't work.

This makes it hard for an intermediate CAD user to figure out what they need to do better - it is probably not so much an issue for someone who better understands CAD and how the different tools work from a theoretical perspective.

Are there plans to introduce error messages at some point in the future?

    Hello,

Evolve should give you error messages if desing/drawing/featureis not feasible. But seems like in this particular instance it didn't give you feedback. solidThinking team will definitely look in to this, could you please send more details on this request? Please email directly to support@solidthinking.com.

Also check out new Self Paced training at solidthinking.com>support>Tutorials>. It will help you during the design course.

    Regards,

The self paced tutorials are very handy - would be handy if there were a lot more tutorials made by other people online, but I'm sure that will happen over time.

I've not seen error feedback anywhere - below is a link to an image of a loft that shouldn't work (it's between two circles on the same plane) - where does the error message show up?

(PS - which services does this forum allow images to be embedded from?)

    Hi Dean,

Evolve shows error messages as a pop up window in very few cases. For all other failures including the one you have sent us, you will notice a '!' next to the object name in the world browser(top right).

You will also notice the object icon is now RED indicating a failed status.

Thank you Arjun for your reply.

My question is regarding whether the '!' will be replaced by something more useful at any point - like with some sort of error message that helps me diagnose and solve the problem.

For example, Solidworks provides a number of messages on failure - see http://help.solidworks.com/2014/English/SolidWorks/sldworks/c_Error_Messages_Overview.htm

I understand that Solidworks is a much more mature piece of software, so what I'm asking is when, if ever, Evolve will include descriptive error messages.

Starting in version 2016 we will be adding error messages with information regarding the errors.

    Thanks,
