Tie contact in NLGEOM analysis

Hello,

I want to perform a geomteric non-linear analysis combined with a perfectly plastic material model. Because i have some intefaces in my model that are connected with each other, but the meshes do not correspond (different size, and at some points do not touch each other), i used a tie contact between these to surfaces. However, i get some errors about the search distance between these surfaces with tie contacts.

I have basically two questions here;

1) Is it possible to tie two meshes that do not touch each other with a tie contact? (no problems in linear analysis)

2) What is the difference between a tie contact or a contact with freeze property?

Thanks.

    Hi Roy,

    Can you try with FREEZE contact?

    in CONTACT, search distance is a function of element size.
