How to do adhesion simulation and use plane strain ?
Hello,
I've been struggling for days finding a way to make my model and would really appreciate any advice you guys have.
I want to simulate a thin adhesive film between two, say polystyrene beams. (refer to link)

I want to find to see how the stress distribution is like when the assembly is under tensile load from both sides. (i.e stress at the corners are probably extremely high and then constant in the middle part)
1. how do i do this adhesion in hyperworks?
I'm not even sure if i should be using radioss. Do i do this by using a special material or is there a special contact interface for this?
Still very new in hyperworks so a detailed advice would be very helpful.
2. how can i use plane strain to create my model (my professor suggested that i do this model in plane strain).
i couldn't find much information on how to make the elements plane strain in hyperworks tutorial.
do i use pshell then apply something?
Thank you for your attention.

Hi Teng,
You can use LAW59 to model adhesive layer between components. Please refer to MAT/LAW59 for more details.
also, please have a look at the link below:
2) For plane strain set N2d3d in /ANALY starter card to 2 to make the analysis to plane strain.
Please refer to /ANALY card in RADIOSS satrter keywords for more information. (Analysis>>control cards>>AnalysisFlags)
