Is there is possibility to work on millimeter wave band 28GHz-60GHz for 5g applications in India or possible to design antenna in this band in India?

    Hi Priya,

     

    Yes, It is possible to design antenna in 28GHz-60GHz for 5G applications in India.Since the frequency is approaching millimeter wave, a highly efficiency antenna will have to be designed (due to multipath loss and high atmospheric attenuation).So, a targeted gain of 12dB for mobile devices and 25dB for base stations will be required. Additionally,beam steering capability must be incorporated to synthesize omni-directional pattern.

    The high frequency (28GHz- 60GHz) and array topology pose simulation challenges like memory and system complexity. FEKO is very well equipped to handle such type of designs. The application and advantages of techniques such as periodic boundary conditions (PBC), the domain Green's function method (DGFM) and equivalent sources can be used for the efficient modelling of such type of problems.
