Composite discrete optimization

Hi,

I have a strange problem. After the discrete optimization step in composites optimization I always get a feasible design with good results, but when I open the _shuffling.X.fem files I get a model with less weight that does not satisfy the constraints... How is it possible that the .out and .h3d and .hgdata files show other results than the _shuffling.X.fem files? Any idea what could be wrong?

Kind regards,

Sam

    HI,

Can you share the details about optimization?

The mass which you see in the final iteration of the .out file is the final mass of the structure by OptiStruct based on your design constraints and objectives.

    Hi Sam,

I ran the your model both on 12.0 and 13.0.

I got a in-feasible design. Is it the same model you used at your end?

Thank you for the feedback. I ran the model on the computer of my collegue and I got the same results as you. I reinstalled Hypermesh on my computer and now it works. I must have done something wrong during the installation, but now it is solved.

Just to be sure, it is not a prolem that it gives infeasible design right? You just select the iteration wich is still feasible and satisfies the objective best?

    Hi Sam,

Please refer to help on how OptiStruct selects a feasible design:
