Spring element
Hello Everyone
I have question regarding the usage of spring element. I have dogbone shaped geometry. I just want to create a spring element in the middle, so that I can use the displacement of that element in hyperview to analyse force displacement graph. The spring element stiffness should be 0, because I don't want it to have any effect on the overall result.
So I created a two nodes and in the middle a spring element should lie. I used the card image of CELAS1 and defined property PELAS. Under PELAS, I made k=0.
However, in hyperview I see no displacement happening to that point. Please tell me to resolve this issue. I have attached the screenshots and also the file. It is non-linear quasi static analysis.
Thanks in advance

Okay. I actually figured it out. The nodes need to be connected to the mesh, other you can't see the displacement

But I have another query. In the attached h3d file, when I try to plot displacement vs time I only get the option to select the node.
However, I want to figure out 'delta L' for the spring element(the whole line). Even when I try to output 'Element strain', 'CELAS strain', it just gives me 0. It doesn't make sense to me why would it do that.
Basically, I want to plot 'delata L' of the spring element over time. Would really appreciate any help.
Thanks

Hi,
What type of analysis is it?

non-linear quasi static

Please reply. It is quite urgent

Hi,
Can you share the file you used for simulation, please?

Hi,
I can reproduce the same and I am going to report this.
Meanwhile, can you use BUSH elements instead of CELAS1?

I just want a minimal stiffness for this spring element. I m not sure if PBUSH fulfills this function or not

Provide a minimium stiffness by activating K line.

Hi Prakash
It works with PBUSH.
Thanks a lot
