Hello Sir,

I am working on crash analysis of a truck and it used to work fine (i.e. take less then an hour) for element size for 0.7 inch. Now when I am using the element size of 0.5 inch, ity is taking a very long time. I have attached a screenshot of the output file. Can you tell me how to read this and what each column is and how to reduce the time.

Thank you,

Datta

    Hi Datta,

The engine out (_0001.out) file gives the outputs details of the computation running. In the time step column, it will show the time step and the element/node/interface responsible for that time step. If its too low, we can check that element/node/interface and can sort this issue.

This out file clearly shows that the interface is creating this time step drop.  For an interface, the gap of the interface must be verified if some failure happens on the master or the slave side of the interface.

Its also possible to use  /DT/INTER/DEL in the engine file, and where if this time step is lower than the value given in this option /DT/INTER/DEL, the slave node is suppressed from the interface
