Composite Panel Optimization

Hi,

I have a laminate with 10 plies , and the deflection output is 5 mm.

In optimization process i want to increase deflection as 10 mm , since 10 mm is allowable deflection.

My constraints are : Plies thickness should not change,

I want to decrease number of plies to reduce laminate thickness and stiffness.

    Hi Deepak,

You can do a size optimization of composite with lower bound set to zero and upper to the current thickness for plies and giving a minimum and maximum thickness for laminate.

    Thanks Prakash,

This solution may change ply thickness, which i dont want to change. But i want to reduce plies.

Can you please tell me how to do that.

    Deepak,

try this, card edit the plies and give the manufacturable thickness (TAMNUF) which is your current thickness and also provide the max and min laminate thickness.
