how to send data using serial UART

Hello,

I am new learner of solid thinking embedded,   I am trying to validate the algorithm to control the colour of led using  msp430g2553 controller  and send the data through serial uart and receive this data on serial monitor of energia but the data is not  receiving  on serial monitor of enegia. I have referred the algorithm validation using serial UART video which is on webside solidthinkinking embedded videos. According to this videos I am trying for arduino controller but same issue has occured. please help me for solving this issue.
