SimLab: How to calculate the mass properties of a body in a local coordinate system


Currently, SimLab does not support the calculation of the mass properties in a local coordinate system. We propose the workaround mentioned below.

       1. Go to Analysis > Property > Material and define a material for the body (as shown in the below image).

          

       2. After defining the material, create the Analysis property for the body (as shown in the below image).

           

       3. After creating the property, go to Analysis > Loads and Constraints and select the Point Mass tool.

       4. Inside the Point Mass tool, set the “Coordinate System” as the local coordinate system ID and                                    set “Apply Mass at” as the Centroid of selected bodies.

            

       5. Now select the body to compute the mass property and select the “Calculate centroid and mass property”            option. The mass properties will be displayed as shown in the below image.
