Can you export as STL binary file? (Not STL ascii)

I want to export to STL binary, is this possible in hypermesh? I am trying to send an STL file of my model to a friend. When I export it as STL I can't open in other software to see if the file works. These include SolidThinking and even HyperMesh itself!!! When trying to open the STL ascii file in SolidThinking it doesn't work, is this because it's in ascii file? An error file comes up saying 'save invalid elements to usermark?'. It is quite a large file (8.1MB), is this the problem?

Also, I want to export geometry as a STEP file but it can't saying 'no geometric entities present for export'.

Any help is much appriciated

If you can share me your ASCII STL file, I'll try to convert it into BINARY.

    8.1MB filesize is NOT large at all because we're living in GB era image/emoticons/default_smile.png' alt=':)' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' width='20' height='20'>

Thanks but I've found out it isn't a ASCII or binary problem anymore. If I drastically reduce the file size using loose shrink wrap, I can save it as an STL file. I'm not sure why it can save only small stl files.

EDIT: Does anyone know how to export large files as STL? It just doesn't seem to want to do it

For big model, it's better to export as binary STL file in order to reduce the size.

However, the ascii STL format is more 'readable' by third-party software.

    George,

looks like you do not have all trias, to export as stl you need to have an all triangular mesh (thats how stl works)
