Intermittent/Stitch Weld Connector Tutorial

Hello,

Is there a tutorial or how-to video on how to use the connector browser to generate stitch welds along an edge or a collection of edges? Also, I'd like to be able to utilize the "seam-quad LTB" for stitch welding but don't know if that's an option.

Thank you,

Mandy

    Hey, Mandy.

    Absolutely. Here's an example:

Let me go over a few of the connector control configurations:

    • Tolerance: distance between elements to be connected. Hint: tolerances too big might make realization difficult. Try using 110~115% of actual minimal distance.
    • Pitch: should be similar to average element edge length if minimal remesh is desired
Pitch equal to element edge: image

      Pitch smaller than element edge:

    • Start/end offset: If extremities of edges shouldn't be welded, insert length. Here I used 10 as start and end offsets:

    • Skip Welding: necessary for intermittent welding. You define welded and unwelded (break) lengths:

Also, I'm sharing this model with preconfigured control.

    Hope this helps!

    Kind regards,
    Paulo Libório.

Terrific, thank you Paulo, this is extremely helpful! One detail question: can you point me to where the "realization details" where you define the skip weld parameters is? I looked in the connector control manager on "Connectors.hm" and this is what I see under the realization details:

    image

I'm running Hyperworks 2022.2, and when I unrealize then realize the three connector ID's, the skip/intermittent weld disappears and is replaced with a continuous weld. Is this a versioning issue, and if so, which version should I update to for the additional functionality?

    thank you,

    Mandy

    Hey, Mandy.

I'm sorry about that, I didn't notice which version you were using. The skip welding options was added to all Line Connectors realization in the 2022.3 release.
