Error identifying faces

I have imported a plate in 3D that I wish to 2D mesh and then drag elements. When I partition the geometry of the plate to the desired contours I'm getting an error saying 'Error identifying faces' when I select the surface for meshing. I can't find anything referencing what could be causing this error. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

How are you partitioning the plates? which solid edit tools are you using?

can you illustrate what you are doing with images / snapshots of your HyperMesh screen?

I have attached two image files. The first show the sketch geometry I am using to partition the 3D solid. I partitioned it using Solid Edit-with sweep lines. The solid has partitioned successfully but is unable to mesh using automesh edge deviation which is what I need as I need to make a 'spiderweb' like mesh extending out from the center point. This method has worked for me in previous attempts, but is failing for this case.

The error was in my node tolerance value. It was set to high therefore the element size was too large.

    Thank you for your response.
