HyperWorks 2022 crashing when starting

Hello,

When I try to start HyperWorks 2022.2 it just crashes. Sometimes without any explanation other times with the issue shown in attachment. It also happens when I try to open a file. I have tired re-installing the program without any luck. Have anyone had the same issue and solved it?

Best,
Rasmus

    Hi Rasmus,

You can try the following steps to see if they remedy your issue:

1: Run hwcleanup. This will remove the session files that HM creates and uses. Corrupt session files could cause crashes.

2: Update Graphics Drivers: We have seen older graphics drivers will give users problems. DO a clean reinstall of the graphics drivers.

3: Check Antivirus software: See if your antivirus software, is locking down the machine too tight, and not letting HyperWorks launch.

I have had the same issue as you, with the same error message (sometimes appearing, sometimes not), with HW crashing on launch. Version: 22.3.1

So far I have been able to isolate the issue to be only under the following conditions:

    • Cicso Webex is running, AND
    • I am logged into Cisco Webex.

If I am logged out of Webex, HW launches without crashing.

I have not been able to diagnose the issue any further than this. Hopefully someone has some clues what to try next (besides removing Webex completely, it's needed for work).

It turned out to be a problem with my Windows installation. After re-installing the whole thing, all worked fine.

    Hi

So i have the same problem but without the error message. When i opened HW, it just didn't showed up, and nothing happened.

I had asked for help and one of the member of Altair told me that i should shut down Webex in order not to interface HW. But i'm sure that i have Webex on my laptop.

    Any advice?

    An update on my situation:

Updating to the latest Hyperworks (2023) has resolved my issue and I’m able to launch all the softwares without any conflict with Webex.

I had deleted and recreated my user profile prior to this for another issue, but I’m fairly certain the software update is what fixed this issue, I believe it was a known conflict/bug for Altair.

Please can u tell me how to update to the latest Hyperwork 2023 version? I'm currently using 2022.3 and it doesn't respond when i turn it on

By the way, i'm using the Student Edition

    Many thanks
