Hi

I have a ceramic component (a curved thick plate) with composite skins on each side. I have meshed the ceramic plate and one side with composite. How can I copy the one side composite to the other side?

    can you provide some pictures of what you have modelled and what you want to accomplish, please?

     

    Are you using plies and laminates for this model?

    If yes, you could just duplicate the ply shape and add it into your laminate in the apporpriate order.

    i would suggest you to use a single shell layer, and using plies and laminates to model this plate.

    Are you familiar with laminate modeling in HyperWorks? It would be easier than having all layers modelled.

     

    If you want to copy it, you can use the 'tools>>Translate', select your elements, 'duplicate' them, and translate to the other side. (or also you could use the tools>>reflect panel, with the same approach).

     

    Once you have duplicated and positioned the mesh, you can use tools>>Edges>> equivalence to combine your duplicated mesh with your core mesh(solid?).

    I am somewhat familiar with laminate modelling, but far from expert. The challenge here is to optimize the plate with more layers or other fibre directions. The real challenge will come when I have to analyze the impact of the plate according to NIJ 0101_06.

    We have a fiull package of ALTAIR SW. so I guess I have to use Radioss to solve that, and I have never used RADIOSS.

    We'll see how it goes:-)
