Analysis of curved beam

Hi everyone,

I am working on the project of curved beam subjected to the moment at both its ends.

The beam is an arc containing angle of 90 degrees having inside radius as 200mm and outside radius as 250mm. it has the moment of 90000Nmm (clockwise) on one end and at other end in anticlockwise direction same in magnitude. i have generated the model in the hypermesh and applied the procedure and i got the stresses also. but stresses that i am getting are von mises stresses. i want the stresses in polar coordinates i.e. stresses in radial and tangential direction. so how could i get that? Please help.Material of beam can be assumed as steel.

    Hi,

    create card global output stress

make a polar system and select it in 'resolved in' option of hyperview contour panel

That's no so complicated to do. You have to prepare a local cylindrical system (on critical section of your beam for example).

In Hyperview, look for stress tensor by selecting your local system. All tensor components will be show in this local system.

But how to create that local cylindrical system?

In Hypermesh, 'Analysis' => 'systems' . See attached picture.
