Interprete the topology optimization result in INSPIRE / HyperView

Hello,

I did a topology optimization with a volume constraint of 30%. Is there a way to show the topology structure that keeps exactly the '30% Volume' constraint? I try to use HyperView and ISO-Plot function. However I don't get a feedback when the 30% of the material is reached.

    Hello,

the final topology result of INSPIRE will contain elements of all densities between 0.0 and 1.0. The volume of 30% is kept, if you keep to the element densities of every single element, meaning also the 0.1, 0.2, 0.3,... density elements. As you have noticed in HyperView, the ISO Plot function will automatically hide some elements under a certain density threshold (e.g. > 0.4 density results will be shown and < 0.4 density results will be hidden). That means, your 30% Volume will never show exactly in the post processing, as:

    - Some elements might be hidden, that contribute to the 30% volume

    - Some elements might be shown, but in fact they contribute more than their '0.4' density to the volume

To get the 'real' volume %, you should perform a restart analysis in INSPIRE (clicking on 'analysis' in your topology slider) and then read the volume constraint from the generated *.out file.

    Best Regards

     Jan
