Principal stress angle, Normal X

Hi,

i am using HyperView to visualize some results.
When i open the contour Panel/Composite Stresses/normal X is this the stress in fiber direction in the damanded layer.

When i open the contour Panel/Composite Stresses/Principal Stress Angle is this the angle between the principal stress vector and the stress in fiber direction?

    Hi Tom,

    Composite stress/strain is calculated in ply coordinate system in RADIOSS bulk.
    normal-x corresponds to the primary ply direction and normal-y is orthogonal to it.

    The normal x stress is the normal stress in the primary ply direction.

    The Principal stress angle is the angle the normal to the principal plane makes with the nearest axis of the ply coordinate system, in other words the angle between the axis of the system and the direction of the principal stress vector.

    Hi Rahul, 

     

    Is there a way to resolve the normal X stresses (which can be regarded as local stresses) in the ply direction to global X stresses in the coordinate system for the composite?
