Boundary layer mesh is often created from HEX/PENTA element.

    • This special type of elemenent used for CFD has very small thickness. So don't check 'aspect ratio' !
    • No TET elements, so no 'tet collapse' checking

Hmm, do you prepare mesh for CFD?

I do often CFD mesh with aspect ratio ~ 10-15 for boundary layers.

I prepared the CFD mesh and checked the quality. When I checked the 3d mesh quality it shows the total boundary layer 3d elements as failed elements. Is it possible to do the mesh with the above-given procedure?

Believe me, I make CFD mesh with boundary layer having aspect ratio ~10-15 and my CFD team got always good results :-)

Attention: If you respect ratio < 5, your mesh maybe becomes too big to solve!

So in numerical world, as in the real life, we have to found good compromise :)/emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20' />
