Transient Magnetic Simulation of a PMSM doesn't get solved
Hello,
I'm currently analyzing a PMSM in the transient magnetic application mode. So far the geometry and the physics seem fine (the physics check gives me just a warning about "Loss properties suitable only for laminated regions". Apart from that everything works. The solving process also starts but in the second solving step, for time and also for example changing the rotor position, the process stops and gives me the following error report:
OR_R_AFFIT => No entity OR_PAR_{ENT}_I exists
OCRCAS => Number RB.F3D.OR_PAR_ICCG_I(0) out of bounds
OCRCAS => CASE getting aborted
OR_R_AFFIT => failed
BPR_BRSYST => failed
Solution of linear system by SICCG impossible
The solving process has probably not correctly converged
Does anyone know what that means and maybe can help me?
Thanks in advance

Here 2 pictures from my project. Orange the permanent magnets modeled as magnetic non conducting regions, the grey areas in rotor and stator modeled as laminated non conducting regions (I changed that to address the warning message mentioned above) and in light blue the airgap regions. I used non meshed coils to model the wires in the stator slots.

Hello,
This error message is du to the non convergence of the linear solver.
In this case some points can be checked in the project:
- Time step used during the solving for rotating machine at least 30 steps by electrical period
- In the electrical circuit ratio between the higher and the lower value of resistance. This ratio should not expect 1e8
- In the solving option change the type of linear solver from iterative to Direct.
If this points does not solve the problem don't hesitate to share your project with the Altair Support.
I hope this helps.
Best regards

Hi,
Please the geometry of the PMSM is created by yourself or by FluxMotor ?
Thank you

Hi,
the geometry was imported by FluxMotor (enhanced in Flux2D Scetcher) and then extruded in Flux3D.
With best regards.

Hi,
Thank you for you answer.
Please, it was easy to extrud the 2D Scetcher to 3D ? Because I faced some problems where selecting the lines to extrud the 2D Scetcher.. did you follow some tutorials/pdf files ?
Thank you

Hi,
I would recommend the Brushless IPM - motor - Step Skew tutorial available in the Flux Supervisor in the 3D tab. Download the pdf and follow the instructions. It is a good tutorial to get to know the basic skills to master Flux.
With best regards.
