How to feed or excite a stripline?

This how-to shows how to excite a stripline for finite size substrates as well as infinite sized substrates (modelled with the planar Green's functions).
In both cases the edge port will be used.
For the planar Green's functions (infinite substrate) the edge is placed on the stripline a small distance away from a via connecting the stripline to the top and bottom infinite ground. The top and bottom ground is not shown as it is added analytically. The via at the back connects the top and bottom ground together.
The finite substrate model works on a similar principle. Here the via is in effect the edge or boundary of the finite substrate where this boundary is metallic.
In both cases, as for other edge ports, the total edge length on which the excitation is placed should not be wider than about 1/30 of a wavelength. A very wide port can excite higher order modes.
