hi all in 1D the strut transfers only shear and torque but not the vertical load how to model it? i mean which element i have to use for it??

what is vertical load you mentioning?
I think in optistruct: CROD => axial, shear, torque, CBAR/CBEAM => + bending
i want the member to transfer shear and torque but not the vertical load.. in model at node 5 the member in blue color must carry only shear and torque to the green colored member not the vertical load..

Do you mean you want to keep length of blue elems not to change? - Use an MPC or RBE2 to fix y-dof (dof2) of them together
