I am trying to refine the mesh by splitting hexa element in one direction. However, it seems that Hypermesh does not let me to do that. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me with that.

For better understanding Could you share screenshot of your requirement.
When I go to 3D-->Split-->refine element-->elem(all), it only refine the mesh on the surface part (second picture) and does not apply through the entire model. I need to split each element to two only along the 'y' direction. It means that instead of 8 elements in 'y' direction I need 16 elements.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
