How to move groups' elements from solid to shell
In Hypermesh 12, if a surface element group is defined by 3D elements' facets, when I create faces from that 3D mesh and delete the 3D mesh, the group's elements are moved to the shell mesh automatically. However, I cannot do the same in Hypermesh 14. The group's elements are deleted along with the 3D mesh
Does anybody know how to do the same in Hypermesh 14?
Thank you in advance.

Hi traviresta,
The element facets created will be associated with 3D elements. Therefore, when you delete the 3D elements even the group elements will be deleted.
Instead you can extract faces for the 3D elements from Tool > Faces panel, and try the same.

That is what I've usually done in Hypermesh 12.
I extracted the faces by Tool>Faces, then I deleted 3D elements before editing the face mesh.
The group's elements were still kept on the extracted face mesh.
However, in Hypermesh 14, when I delete 3D elements, the group's elements are deleted too.
The group is also removed when I do tetra-remesh (3D>tetra remesh) (I can do it in HM12 without any problem)

Hi,
I tried the same on 14.0 and I can see the face element after deleting the 3D elements. Please delete the setting files and try again.
If you still face the issue, after extracting the face elements, rename the component to something else and delete the 3D elements.

Hi Prakash Pagadala,
I tried deleting the setting files. But it did not work. I'm using HW 14.0.110.13

Hi traviresta,
I'm able to extract faces and delete 3D elements and retrieve only face elements in 14.0. Please check this video.

Looks like a machine specific problem,
As a workaround, try to rename the faces collector, mask the same and delete the solids.
