What is the difference between plastic strain and plastic strain along the thickness?

 

in which situation should be plastic strain  used ?

in which situation should be plastic strain along the thickness used ?

Hi,

Plastic strain along thickness calculates the plastic strain for every integration point in the element. For better analysis of results this can be used.

Plastic strain and plastic strain along thickness are used for non linear analysis.

and there are a lots of difference between results of plastic strain and plastic strain along thickness. Why does it occurs?

Hi,

Plastic strain is a plastic deformation that happen in components due to the loads. In non linear analysis we check for plastic strain, that is how much the component has deformed upon impact/crash.

Since plastic strain along thickness check for every integration point there will be difference in the results.
