Orientaion Review Tool
I am seeking some clarification on the use of the Orientation tool in Hypermesh as I don't believe it works in the way I expect.
Note: In previous versions of hypermesh where this orientation review tool was not available for use, I have used a tcl script that is available to download form the Altair Connect website (elemSys1.tcl). This little script has always worked quite well for me but I wanted to use the new tool built in to Hypermesh.
In the Help documentation it states 'In the Elemental system tab you can select 1D, 2D, or 3D elements and display the coordinate system. '
And in the Optistruct reference guide it shows the elemental system as defined as shown in the attached image, i.e. element coordinate system is defined by a bisection of the element with reference to a CQUAD.
However - when I showed this for one of my models, I thought something didn't look right, and that the orientation review tool wasn't showing the coordinate system as I would expect. When I ran the 'elemSys1.tcl' script, this showed what I would have been expecting given the description of how the element coordinate system is defined, and therefore has confirmed to me that the orientation tool isn't working as expected. I have reviewed this on other colleagues machines, and it does the same thing.
Am I thinking about this in the wrong way, or doing something wrong somewhere? ( I can't see many other options in the orientation review tool to be able to get this wrong.)
Please see attached image as an example.

My next question would be - when I am viewing the results in the elemental coordinate system, which system am I seeing the results in? i.e. as shown by the orientation review tool, or as shown by the 'elemSys1.tcl' script ?

Update: When using the system reviewer in hyperview, it shows the element orientation system as expected.
