seperate faces to different components, view cut through component

Hi,

I just started to work with HM and have two questions:

1) I do have a flat solid with variable thickness. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to share a picture of such a component. You may imagine a deformed piece of orange peel with some holes.

I want to seperate the inner and outer surface and organize both in different components. Both inner and outer surface are built of several faces.

I tried with Geometry -> Organize -> Surfaces  and  select surfaces 'by face'. However, that selects almost every face of the entire component.

Is there another way to collect the faces of the inner/ outer surface different than selecting all (about 100 little faces) manually?

2) Is there a way to view a cut through the component? I couldn't find anything related to that in the help.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Franziska

    Hi Franziska,

Go to Tools>Faces, select the component and click find faces. After this you can select element by face.

Go to Post>Hidden line option, user can select the plane and check trim planes option so that  the model is masked so that only the parts beyond the cutting plane is displayed.

Many thanks for your answer, George.

Unfortunately, I do neither find Tools>Faces in Tools nor Post>Hidden in Post.
