Refining elements at intersection of planes

I am attempting to generate a 2D mesh of complex intersecting planes. I need a little assistance with one part of my work flow.

First I use 'surface edit' to trim surfaces at the intersection points. This generates a line at every intersection. I would like to mesh these intersection lines with smaller element sizes than the lines which define the boundary of the planes, this way the mesh is more refined in the geometrically complex areas where the planes intersect. I hope I have explained the problem clearly.. I attached a simplified representation of my problem..

I cannot manually select the intersection lines because there are too many of them.

Is there a way to select only these lines of intersection? (red line in picture)  I do not know how to retrieve the ID of these lines in HM. Can someone suggest a method or direct me to some documentation that can help. It would be greatly appreciated
