Hi everyone, I am a HyperMesh beginner,

I am creating a cylinder with the Mesh of solid186 by:

1. Solid edit and trim the cylinder into 4 parts to create 2D elements.

2. Spin it

3. Delete 2D elements and equivalence

4. Setup the solid186 element type.

However, there is the error in Figure_3, 'inconsistent element type'. Also, there is a status: ET TYPE and elements config in the model are not matching.

I dont understand why? Please help me.

    Hi Dinh ST

The error is because you are trying to assign Hexa element property to Penta elements.

If you are using the current methodology for meshing while rotating the elements, for the 2D elements at the centre Penta elements are created, while hexa is created for other 2 rows.

So the workaround is that you can select the other 2 rows leaving the center elements, rotate it and hexa elements are created

Then select the centre row elements and do a solid map to get Hexa elements

Now the entire mesh will be hexa elements and you can use the hexa element property
