Hi,

I wand to simulate two welded Shell elements. They are bonded with an ACM weld. Now I want to define an area around the spot weld which represents the Heat affected Zone. This area has other material properties than the Sheets. How can I build this area and assign the properties?

Thank you.

Could share screenshot of the model? What type of analysis/material  you are going to perform?

This is how it should look like. But I don't know how to model the Heat affected zone (grey zone) on the upper and lower sheet, because they have other properties than the sheets

it is going to be performed in Optistruct. This is a model from the internet. I want to do the same but I have a problem modelling the heat affected zone which has other properties (rigidity, Hardness etc.. which are changed because of the applied heat of the laser welding )  than the sheet but it is at the same time part of the sheet. How can I model it?

    Thank you

Modelling of such mesh pattern can be done in Hypermesh. I am not sure about analysis considering these parameter.I will check and let you know.
