Hello,

I would like to know the method to detect a quad with only 3 nodes (instead of triangle definition)  that can create problem under another software like Ansys (shell181) : QUAD N : Node1 Node2 Node3 Node(1 or 3) for example

thank you for your help

    Hi,

if the quads have 2 nodes sharing same position, they will have minsize = 0, so please check F10>min length 0 (set calculation as 'shortest edge'), you will catch the quads

    Hello,

From my understanding, quads are 2D elements with 4 nodes. The element will be a tria when there are only 3 nodes. You can find a element based on their configuration i.e. tria or quad in HM by using 'by config' in the selector.

    Thankyou

This kind of quad has very bad Jacobian.

Yes, it's bad. I heard from my teacher that this degenerated quad is used for crack simulation
