Hi,

Please i wonder always how can i choose the element size of a 3d body (60*80*400) for a topology optimization ? ho can i be sure for example that element size =4  is the perfect size of elements or no  ?

Thank you

    The choice depends to:

    • Your goal of analysis, your precision
    • Your capacity of computing hardware
    • Your FEM experiences

For exemple i choose element size = 4 for this solid body

and i get the result in picture 2  ( with MINDIM=12)

now how can i say that this element size is suffisant or not ? how can i say it's the right one or not ?

    thank you

Maybe try with size=3,2,1 and compare all?

if i will whange the size i will reconnect all the fix bolt (beacause i will loose the ID of élements connected with RBE3 ELEMENTS )

there is an solution to remesh only the inside of the solidbody without make any difference on the outsides elements connected with other body ?

    Than you

    HI,

There is no thumb rule for mesh size. You can do a mesh sensitivity analysis to get the right mesh size for your model and use the same for topology optimization.
