Generating 60nm thickness along the grain boundaries of a microstructure
I generated a microstructure (5 x 5 x 2 micrometer) using Abaqus input file (attached). But the microstructure does not have
grainboundary thickness.
I would like to generate thickness (60nm) along the grain boundaries using hypermesh.
Could you help me generating 60nm thickness along the grain boundaries?
Thank you

Your grain boundaries cover whole microstructure? And you want to make them as solid elements?

If I understand correctly, here's my test:
Create external skin of all 3 components:
Got '^faces' :
Make solid elements by 'elem offset' :
And got final layer boundary :
Is that you're looking for ?

Thank you very much for your suggestion.
Based on your figure, we are not sure whether you understood our definition of grain boundary thickness. So I attached a picture showing the grain boundaries(GB) in white color. I think the GB can be modeled either shell or solid.
Also. I tried your method. But, after clicking 'offset' button, E_boundary was not created (Nothing happened).
Thank you.

That's simpler with shell.
Just create external surface for each solid component.
