Linear Static Analysis mistake

 Hello everyone,

I'm working on my thesis on the optimization of a steel spatial node, I'm using Optistruct to do topological optimization.

I followed the tutorial of 'carm' element and a ran the analysis. The volume doesn't show different stresses inside, so I think I'm making some mistake in the setting.

Can someone tell me where I'm wrong?

Thank you.

    Hi @albertolazzeri

I don't see stress plots in your post.

Can you plot stress and check the results?

    Hi Prakash Pagadala,
I confused the Element Density page with the stress page.

However, in the stress analysis, the results include the hubs that were instead set with on DESIGN properties.
Can you tell me what am I doing wrong in the settings?
Can you show me where I can find some topology optimization example to follow (I have just seen the tutorial by Altair) in which I can find more complex work and different from the common tutorial?

    Thank you very much

    Hi,

I can see some loads are applied to the temporary nodes. This will not transfer the load to the elements and ends up with wrong results.

I suggest you clear all TEMP nodes and apply loads again.

    Also, please check the units.

Thank you very much Prakash Pagadala,

can I convert the temp nodes into preserved nodes without having to reapply the forces?

    Thank you
