How to simulate a free end boundary condition for a rod while the other end has a forcing?

Hi ,

 

I am doing a transient direct analysis of a 1D rod in optistruct .  On one end of the rod there is an axial sinusoidal displacement input. The other end is free. I want to look at the transient solution to this problem. 

i.e I want to see the travel of the first wave of deformation from the forced end to the free end. How can I set up this kind of boundary condition?

You can download free ebook using below link on Dynamic analysis with OptiStruct.From book you can refer chapter 6 ,6.1.2 tutorial and 14.4 example. Since you have sinusoidal displacement input, use SPCD card instead of DAREA.
