Is it possible to model visco-elastic behaviour in EDEM?

Hi,

can a visco-elastic behaviour of particles like the Burgers model be implemented in EDEM? Has something similiar been done already before?

    Hi Clemens,

    Thanks for getting in touch with this query.

    Burger's model has been implemented before in the EDEM API although we do not have the files to share unfortunately.

    It is worth pointing out that this model approximates a high order differential equation for the visco-elastic interaction explicitly and thefore requires extremely low timesteps to produce accurate results. It has primarily been employed to simulate oedometric testing on small samples of bituminous aggregate and it might not be practical for simulating full scale industrial systems.
