Can't import geometry to MotionView

I can't import geometry to Altair MotionView. Tried direct importing the geometry in STEP, Solidworks, Parasolid, STL and even Hypermesh formats, however, still can't import it. No error message is displayed when importing, nor at the message center. Also no error logs are generated.

Also tried importing through "Geometry or FEM using Hypermesh", which results in importing the bodies but no graphics. Hypermesh and Inspire can import the models succesfully, but not MotionView.

Tried a full clean reinstall of all Altair softwares, tried a clean windows install, tried turning off the antivirus.

What I'm trying to import is a simple assembly of a 4 bar mecanism from Solidworks to MotionView. Also tried importing a simple singular CAD instead of a assembly and still the problem persists.

MotionView works fine using Baja/FSAE template available to download from Altair official tutorials. I've had run several multi body simulations from the templates. All the others softwares are working fine, the only problem is importing geometry.

I tried renaming as suggested. Now I can open the files on STEP and hm formats, but still not on Solidworks format.

The Solidworks files were saved on version 2026 2.1. I've also tried saving on 2025 and 2024 Solidworks formats, but the same error persists. To make sure it was not a problem of corrupted files, I've made a new Solidworks CAD with a single cube and saved without special characters and spaces, but still getting the "Import Failed" error.

Hi @Roque,

Do you have a Student License or a full License?

Are you importing using File » Import » Graphics, or are you importing using the Import CAD or FE using HyperMesh tool?

What Solidworks format are you trying to use?

Why do you need a Solidworks format, and not just import the model as a parasolid?

Currently Student Licence.

I tried both the "Import Geometry" and "Import Geometry or FEM using HyperMesh" options. The second option allows for the direct import of SolidWorks files; however, whenever I attempt this, an Import failed error occurs. Although importing Parasolid and STEP files works correctly, being able to import .SLDPRT files directly would help on my file management, as other software also support direct import.

Tried importing os Solidworks files on versions 2026, 2025 and 2024.

Since I've been able to use MotionSolve to import files in STEP format, I'll accept the solution regarding special characters that you provided earlier. Thank you.
