Hello,
I have a question regarding the Tavares breakage model in EDEM.
I am using the Tavares breakage model, and I want to obtain the particle size distribution (PSD) of my particles after breakage. However, I am facing an issue: the PSD obtained from EDEM after breakage is very different from the real experimental particle size distribution.
In reality, the expected values for D10, D50, and D90 should be approximately 16, 150, and 450 µm, respectively. However, in my simulation, I am obtaining values around 20, 100, and 180 µm.
It seems that D90 stays around 200 µm and only changes very slightly around that value, even after adjusting the breakage parameters.
No matter how much I adjust the breakage parameters, the results do not change significantly. This made me wonder whether the particle size distribution reported by EDEM after breakage includes only the particles that have actually fractured, or if it includes all particles in the system (including particles that have not broken at all).
Since some particles may remain unbroken in the system, I would like to know whether EDEM includes those particles in the PSD calculation or not.
If EDEM only reports the PSD of broken particles, could you please let me know how I can obtain the particle size distribution for all particles in the system, regardless of whether they have broken or remained intact?
Thank you very much for your help.
