Hello everyone,
I am setting up an impact simulation in HyperMesh 2025 using the LS-DYNA profile. I am working with the Johnson-Cook material model (*MAT_015) and I want to define a complete failure model using the Johnson-Cook damage parameters (D1–D5) via *MAT_ADD_EROSION.
However, I am running into an issue:
- In the HyperMesh GUI, when creating *MAT_ADD_EROSION, I cannot find any option to input D1–D5 parameters.
- The interface only shows simpler failure options (e.g. EFFEPS / effective plastic strain to failure).
- I am not sure if this means:
- The Johnson-Cook damage model is not fully supported in the GUI, or
- It is hidden behind another card image / configuration, or
- It must be defined manually in the keyword file.
My questions are:
- Is there a way to enable or expose D1–D5 inputs in the HyperMesh LS-DYNA interface?
- Is *MAT_ADD_EROSION the correct card for Johnson-Cook damage in LS-DYNA, or is another keyword preferred?
- If manual keyword editing is required, is that the recommended workflow in professional practice for this case?
- Could this be a version or profile limitation in HyperMesh 2025?
Any clarification or best practice would be really appreciated, especially from users who have implemented Johnson-Cook failure in LS-DYNA through HyperMesh.
Thank you in advance.
