Hi everyone,
I'm modeling a hexagonal honeycomb core structure in HyperMesh with DYNA solver, and encountered two issues when assigning shell thickness:
Problem 1: Thickness overlap/penetration at honeycomb corners- I created the honeycomb geometry as a midsurface, then generated 2D QUAD mesh.- When I try the "Map Thickness" function, the shell thickness shows overlap where three cell walls meet. Is this a visual artifact only, or will it cause actual stiffness/contact errors in analysis? How should I properly handle thickness display/definition at sharp honeycomb corners?
Problem 2: Interface between face sheet and honeycomb core- The structure has aluminum face sheets bonded to the honeycomb core.- I'm unsure about the correct modeling approach for the interface.
Thanks in advance.
