Hi all, Could you explain the meaning of the two options (Cylindrical and Revolute) when selecting a Centerline Joint?
Best regards,
Hello Huyen,
The Restrain Centerline option controls how the motor axis is constrained relative to the base part. When it is enabled, the Centerline Joint type determines the allowed motion of the axis.
- Revolute: Allows rotation about the axis only. All translational motion of the motor axis is constrained. - Cylindrical: Allows rotation about the axis and translation along the axis.
If Restrain Centerline is disabled, or if an inappropriate Centerline Joint is used, unexpected part movement, warnings, or errors may occur.
When the Cylindrical option is selected, axial motion is intentionally left unconstrained, so additional constraints may be needed depending on the mechanism. For typical motor setups where the shaft position should remain fixed relative to the base, the Revolute option can better represent that condition.
Hope this helps.
