motionsolve stuck in exporting geometry

Hello,

I moved from the old 2022.3 version to more recent version 2025 and 2025.1 (both have the same problem).

With the newer software whenever I try to use old models or create new ones that use contact between 2 cad models (both step and parasolid) the simulation get stuck in "export geometry" and stops responding. There are no warnings it just stops.

I'm using contact with impact model and friction disabled. I tried step 203 and 214, parasolid and prt (I have siemens nx), also going trough Inspire does not fix the problem.

is it possible that there is a geometry tool not working properly? Is there a solution?

The only way to make contact work is using basic geometries like cylinders created inside motionview.

I am not aware of any known issue with these versions, but can you please try to use the most recent version (v2026.0)?

Does MotionView stall when trying to run a simulation, or when you are exporting the model as an archive, or when you are trying to export a particular system as a MDL definition?

Also, are you able to share the model so I can try the export as well?

Hello @Federico Bosi,

can you try once File→ Import→ Geometry or FEM using HyperMesh. Try loading the geometry in this way. If it fails to import, there might be a defect in the geometry that prevents it from generating a h3d file (which is used by solver file). If it imports properly then as @GTT Adam suggested please share the model.

Hi @GTT Adam,

MotionView stalls when trying to run a simulation
I can't share the model as it contains confidential informations
currently I'm not able to launch the 2026, the license in our server does not support it yet
My CAD of use is Siemens NX, I tried step, parasolid an native but the problem is still there (both in direct and susing hypermesh see point below)
I tried import using hypermesh but it shows an error that I never encountered before:

Did I miss a required package during installation?

Please see my answer to Adam, it seems that the import and H3D generation is not working at all. If I mesh the parts in Hypermesh separately and then import the simulation works but I'm still waiting to see if the results are ok.

Does the model still fail to export before the simulation launches if the contact is disabled/deleted?

If so, could the contact be replaced/approximated by using primitive graphics instead?

Hi Adam,

If I remove the contact or replace contact geometries with primitives the simulation progresses. For a series of simulations I've been doing in the last weeks I replaced the contacts where I can or using primitives but it's inconvenient.

It seems that the problem is confined in 3D contact where the geometry is a CAD file.
