[EDEM API] Varialbe_Cohesion

Hello,
I have been working through the EDEM API tutorial and successfully ran 3_Variable_Cohesion.
I would like to apply this tutorial to a simulation with three different particle types.

Could you please advise which files need to be modified and how they should be changed in order to support three particle types instead of the default setup?

Hi,

YOu only need to make a change to the cohesion_prefsV2.txt file. EDEM reads this file to get the interaction cohesion values, it's currently setup for particle-particle and particle-geomterry:

##InteractionProperties
particle:particle 1e6
particle:mill 2e5

If you have another particle type you can just add these in, for example:

##InteractionProperties
particle:particle 1e6
particle:mill 2e5
grain:grain 1e6
grain:particle 1e6
grain:mill 1e6

This would add all the inputs for a 'grain' particle type. Note the name must match the name of the particle in the EDEM Creator Particles tab and you can't have any spaces in the names.

In the code this is all read from the setup function where the information in the .txt file is added to m_cohesionParameters, it's written to allow for any number of inputs.
