How do I correctly implement .tir Tire-files in HyperStudy when using a MotionView Model

Hello,

I have a problem using .tir files when trying to setup my HyperStudy. Let me walk you through my approach.

First I define my MotionView Model with the Solver Input File being a .xml. then I create three Parameterized Files, one for each Tire pair that is being used in my MV Model. The Resource is the .tpl file and the Solver Input is the .tir file being saved in approaches/setup_1-def/run__0001/m_2/[…].tir (for the other two m_3 & m_4).

When creating them, I have to create parameters from the .tpl files. I highlight vertical_stiffness and vertical_damping. Then I import the variables. And they seem to bee correctly defined. Test Models works fine too. After creating my Output responses I setup an optimization.

When solving the Evaluations no .tir file is being saved in the approaches/opt_2/run_00001/m_2 folder. But the Input Variable is changed in my Evaluation Data with no change in my output.

My Quenstion is: How do I setup my MotionView or HyperStudy file, so a .tir file with new parameters is created for each evaluation in my optimization? And how do I link the newly created .tir files to my MotionView file?

I would appreciate your insight and ideas.

Thank you for the confirmation. I have done something similar with updating flexbodies and reallocating them in HyperStudy. You can reference this article for more information.

I am attaching an example that I have generated.

In MotionView, make sure that the tire file is not located the installation directory. If it is, you will need to save the tire file in your local directory. Then point the tires to that new file. Export the model as an archive model (File >> Export >> Model >> Archive Model)

Open archive model in text editor. Navigate to where the .tir file is located. Update the t_property_file to include {Solver_Filename.path} + “Tire_Name.tir”

Save as a new model.

Open a new session of HyperStudy. Add the tire file as a parameterized file first and import the variables.

Test the model without adding the MotionView model (we want to populate the updated files first).

Once complete, go back and add the edited MotionView Model. Import your variables from the MotionView model. If you are not using any, I would suggest to still import a random variable and deactivate it in “Define Input Variables”

In Model Resources, link the updated tire file from the m_1 folder to the MotionView model. This will update the tire after every iteration.

Run the Model definition, in the m_2 folder open the mdl and tire file in any notepad editor. Verify that the property file and variables are updated accordingly.
