What would be a good new PC specs to run Monarch 2025 with incredibly large queries?

Description: So due to our environment we're still running Monarch with an older i5 8400 machine with 16GB RAM while the end user runs incredibly large queries while integrating with MS Access. We've tried to use newer hardware to run Monarch and it seemed to throw more errors than we'd like so we've stuck to the older gen systems. Is there a recommendations of newer systems that would work better under large queries?

Hi @Khuang,

May I ask the nature of the errors that were being thrown with your newer hardware, and what are the specifications of the new hardware.

And when you say the end user was running incredibly large queries, can you be a bit more specific about whether you were using Monarch Classic or Monarch DPS, or perhaps Monarch Automation or Monarch Server? I do not generally think of Monarch as "running queries", but rather as processing documents and extracting data from them.

The end user uses Monarch to gather a lot of data from MS Access. So in my thoughts it's pulling data from multiple databases all at once.

Previous tech before me noted that they tried to put the end user on a newer system with say an Intel X299 chipset + i9 10900X with maybe 32GB RAM to see if it works correctly but Monarch it was reported with various errors so they reverted back to the i5 8400 system with 16GB RAM.

User has been running Monarch 2025 as well as Monarch Classic. I was hoping system requirements or what not isn't too picky with Monarch and I can just upgrade the user to a new i7 14th gen system with maybe 32 or 64GB RAM since based on my understanding of how Monarch works with other apps it's probably more CPU intensive than anything else?

Monarch has a 2025 version. Monarch consists of Monarch Classic and Monarch DPS, so I will assume you are using either Monarch Classic or DPS. Technically, the recommended specifications are relatively modest - 8 GB Ram and 5 GB Disk space for installation (https://help.altair.com/monarch/install/monarch_install_guide.pdf):

When you say "it was reported with various errors", could you say what those errors were?

Hi, so the user with monarch reports that they're data mining reports and then with that extracted data it's being imported into Microsoft Access to a database for further processing. I guess the disconnect is happening as it's grabbing the data with Monarch.

@Kuang are you asking for the specifications for the RMS (Report Mining Service) product? That would probably be covered in the Monarch Automator install guide: https://help.altair.com/monarchserver/core/advinstall/monarch_server_installation_guide.pdf
