EDEM command line - Track collisions

When running EDEM using the command line, is there a processing flag to track collisions? The K flag is for extracting collision data. When running a simulation using the command line does EDEM automatically track collisions? I know it can be done using the GUI but I need to run multiple simulations in a cluster.

Hi,

To track collisions you have to set this up in the GUI > Simulator 'track collisions'. It's not possible to activate via command line. However it its setup then when you run command line it will be used.

I'd reccomend also setting up the query in the simulation file via the EDEM analyst in advance. Then using command line you can use the -e 'filename.dfg' command to export the specific query setup.

Juts to note collisions (track collisions) uses CPU only. The energy tracking model runs on GPU and fulfils a lot of the requirements that track collisions does - https://help.altair.com/edem/topics/creator_tree_physics/collisional_energy_tracking_model_r.htm

Thats correct, the energy tracking model was implemented in 2025.1.
