motionviw&EDEM coupled simulation fails to output plt. file

Hello,

I am running a motionviw&EDEM coupled simulation. I am changing the 'mesh coarseness for contacts' to do gird independence test. When the coarseness is 4 and 5, the simulation runs well. But when I change it to 7, It ran, but didn't output the final files like plt. file. See below figure.

Any idea what is the problem?

Hi @KeyuWang_UWO ,

I'm sorry that you are running into this issue. Does this issue still persist if the MotionView model was ran by itself? Was there any noticeable difference between the results when the coarseness was set to 4 and 5?

Hello Christopher,

No, if I only run motionview, there is no problem. I counldn't find any difference. I have the logs for 4 and 7 coarseness.

This is the 4 coarseness log:

This is the 7 coarseness log:

One thing I noticed is that there is no 'results' tab for 7 and if I tried to close the log window, it would pop up a new window say 'the job is still running, sure you want to close?'. But it shows in below figure that job is completed and the coupling server turned gray. I am confused…

Hi @KeyuWang_UWO ,

I couldn't find any relative data in the logs to pinpoint the issue. It could be a memory issue. Could you run a new test where you only run the simulation for a few seconds. Are you able to gather the results? Are you able to share the Archive MotionView Model?

Hello Christopher,

I tried to run for less than 1 second, it gathered results. Weird, I am unable to export the model. Like, I see the archive folder, but it's empty.

Hello Christopher,

The lower left corner shows the exporting is done, it is now 'ready'. I copied the mdl., mrf. and x_t. files and zipped it. I am trying a smaller coarseness now, so the numbers in the model is not 7.

The simulation time of 4 and 5 is not that different either, both take 6 days. And now I am trying 2 with some graphics 5. Do you think it will output this time?

You mean I can check off some of the boxes to save storage space?
