I’m encountering an error when trying to link Twin Activate and HyperStudy using the PID Optimization tutorial model that comes with Altair Twin Activate.
When I create a new study in HyperStudy 2025.1, select Twin Activate as the model type, and point to the provided .scm file, the variable import process fails immediately with the following messages:
Error: Twin Activate failed to generate import hstp file (C:/Users/.../Model1.ta2hst)
Error: Failed to import variables of model (Twin Activate 1 (m_1))
No .log file is generated in the run directory—only the partial .ta2hst path is shown. The Twin Activate model itself runs fine outside of HyperStudy.
I have already verified that:
- All parameters are valid scalar variables defined in the model (Kp, Ki, Kd, etc.).
- The tutorial model runs successfully in Twin Activate.
- File paths are short and contain no special characters.
- Both Twin Activate and HyperStudy are version 2025.1, licensed and installed correctly.
I have also tried moving the study to C:\HST\ and testing other Twin Activate tutorial models, but the same issue occurs.
Could this be a known issue with the Twin Activate ↔ HyperStudy connector for .scm models?
If so, are there updated steps or patches to enable variable import (for example, defining parameters in the initialization script or using ToCSV outputs)?
Any guidance or workaround would be greatly appreciated.
