Modify vehicle parameters

Hello everyone, I have constructed a car model using a modelling approach. However, I wish to modify the parameters to increase the vehicle's minimum ground clearance so that it does not collide with the road during steep incline simulations. What method should I employ to make these adjustments? Thank you.

Hello @xiejiyin,

what do you mean by modeling approach? Did you maybe create the vehicle using Assembly Wizard? I believe that the most straight forward way to increase ground clearance without having to change anything on the suspension geometry would be to increase the preload of your suspension. This will increase the overall ride height or ground clearance but you should expect similar suspension travel as the stiffness is the same.

Yes, I used Assembly Wizard to creat the vehicle. However, during terrain simulation of the vehicle ascending a slope, the vehicle collided with the slope surface. Therefore, I intend to increase the vehicle's minimum ground clearance to prevent such occurrences.

Could you share a screenshot or the model where you are seeing this interaction?

Do you see the tire penetrating the surface?

What type of tires are you using? MF_Tyre, Fiala, CDTIRE, FTIRE? If you are using MF_Tyre or Fiala, the contact method used is point and cam contact, where the entire carcass of the tire is not used to determine the loads acting on the tire. That could be an outlier.
