Hypermesh heat transfer contact conductance issue

Hi, I’m performing a steady-state heat transfer analysis in HyperMesh 2024.1.

Currently, I observe a very small temperature gradient in my results, and I suspect it might be a visualization artifact from the software. My assumption is that even if shell structures are perfectly joined, a contact definition is still required. I created a contact using the slide option under the Group section, and I also defined a PCONT card. However, it seems that this setup wasn’t sufficient.

Which steps should I follow to define the thermal contact conductance between surfaces? Could you please help me figure out what I might be missing?

Hello,

Pure heat transfer analysis with thermal contact is solved based on initial contact status. Contact clearance and area are calculated based on geometry. Have you activated PCONTHT in PCONT? Can you try with clearance=0?

If possible upload your model as well.

It worked, thank you so much. By the way, is there a shortcut for defining contact between all shells one by one through “group”? I mean, if I don’t need to assign separate contact conductance values for each region, is there a way to define contact for my entire model at once?
